The1940 All-Pro Team consisted ofAmerican football players chosen by various selectors for theAll-Pro team of theNational Football League (NFL) for the1940 NFL season. Teams were selected by, among others, the so-called "official" All-Pro team selected by 92 sports writers who were members of the Pro Football Writers Association of American (PFW),[1] the sports writers of theAssociated Press (AP),[2] theUnited Press (UP),[3] theInternational News Service (INS),[4]Collyer's Eye (CE),[5] theNew York Daily News (NYDN),[5] and theChicago Herald American.[5]

Players displayed in bold were consensus first-team selections. Three players were selected for the first team by all seven selectors: Brooklyn Dodgers quarterbackAce Parker; Brooklyn Dodgers tackleBruiser Kinard; and Chicago Bears guardDan Fortmann. Four others were designated for the first team by six selectors: Cleveland Rams fullbackJohnny Drake; Green Bay Packers endDon Hutson; Brooklyn Dodgers endPerry Schwartz; and New York Giants centerMel Hein. Another four players were selected by five of seven selectors: Detroit Lions halfbackByron White; Washington Redskins halfbackSammy Baugh; Chicago Bears tackleJoe Stydahar; and New York Giants centerMel Hein.
