Match results are drawn fromThe Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation website[1] and Rothmans[2] for the First Division and fromRothmans for the Second Division and for the two Third Divisions.

From the 1922–23 season onwards, re-election was required of the bottom two teams of both the Third Division North and Third Division South leagues.[2]

  • The Blackpool v Chelsea match atBloomfield Road on the 29th of October was played in terrible conditions, with a quagmire pitch and ferocious rain and wind. Only eight Chelsea players started the second half, and they finished the match with only six players.[4]
