The1928 French Championships (now known as theFrench Open) was atennis tournament that took place on the outdoorclay courts at theStade Roland-Garros in Paris, France. The tournament ran from 24 May until 4 June. It was the 33rd staging of theFrench Championships and the secondGrand Slam tournament of the year. It was the first tournament held at the new Roland-Garros stadium which was built during the winter of 1927/1928.Henri Cochet andHelen Wills won the singles titles. Wills became the first American women to win the singles event.[3]
