The1924 United States Senate election in Tennessee took place on November 4, 1924, concurrently with theU.S. presidential election, as well as elections to theUnited States Senate inother states as well as elections to theUnited States House of Representatives and various state and local elections. IncumbentDemocratic SenatorJohn K. Shields was defeated in the primary toLawrence Tyson.[1] Tyson won the general election, defeatingRepublicanAttorneyHugh B. Lindsay with 57.3% of the vote.[2]
Lawrence Tyson was sworn in as a Senator on March 4, 1925.[3]
