Government

The1916 United States presidential election in Nebraska took place on November 7, 1916, as part of the1916 United States presidential election. Voters chose eight representatives, or electors, to theElectoral College, who voted forpresident andvice president.

Nebraska was won by incumbentPresident Woodrow Wilson (D–Virginia), and incumbentVice-president Thomas R. Marshall, with 55.28% of the popular vote, against former and futureSupreme Court Justice Charles Evans Hughes (R–New York), running with the 26thvice president of the United States Charles W. Fairbanks, with 40.99% of the popular vote. This made Nebraska more than 6% more Democratic than the nation as a whole, possibly as a result ofopposition to World War I. As of the2024 presidential election^[update], this is the last occasion whenKeya Paha County voted for a Democratic presidential candidate.^[1]^[2]
