The1916 Minnesota Secretary of State election was held on 7 November 1916 in order to elect theSecretary of State of Minnesota.Republican nominee andincumbent Secretary of StateJulius A. Schmahl defeatedProhibition nominee Charles L. Johnson.[1]
On election day, 7 November 1916,Republican nomineeJulius A. Schmahl won re-election by a margin of 177,161 votes against his opponentProhibition nominee Charles L. Johnson, thereby retaining Republican control over the office of Secretary of State. Schmahl was sworn in for his sixth term on 3 January 1917.[2]
