The1914 Idaho football team represented theUniversity of Idaho as a member of theNorthwest Conference during the1914 college football season. Led byJohn G. Griffith in his tenth and final season as head coach, Idaho compiled an overall record of 2–3–1 with a mark of 1–3 in conference play, placing fifth in the Northwest Conference. The first three games of the season were at home inMoscow, with the opener at the fairgrounds,[1] and two on campus at the newMacLean Field.

In the season opener, Idaho defeatedGonzaga, 5−3,[1][2][3] and then played a scoreless tie withMontana in the mud in the MacLean Field debut.[4]

After two consecutive wins in the series, Idaho lost toWashington State in theBattle of the Palouse, falling0–3 atRogers Field inPullman. The weather was ideal but the only score was adrop-kick field goal in the second quarter.[5]Nine years later, the Vandals won the first of three consecutive, their onlythree-peat in the rivalry series.

Idaho tallied a mere twelve points in its six games. In the opener, they scored on a field goal and a safety on a puntreturn,[1][2][3] then went scoreless in the next four games. The sole Idaho touchdown came in the final game on a forward pass for the game's only score.[6][7]

It was Griffith's final year as head coach; he left forOklahoma A&M (nowOklahoma State) inStillwater.
