The1900–01 season was the 30th season of competitivefootball in England.

Events

Stockport County played their first season in the football league.Blackpool also returned to the league, at the expenses ofLoughborough andLuton Town.[citation needed]

Despite a run of four victories at the start of the season,Aston Villa finished fourth from bottom.[citation needed]

Liverpool won theFirst Division, whilePreston North End andWest Bromwich Albion were relegated to theSecond Division.Grimsby Town won theSecond Division, and were promoted to theFirst Division along withSmall Heath.[1]

Tottenham Hotspur became the first and only non-League club to date, to win the FA Cup.[citation needed] After a 2-2 draw, Tottenham won the3-1 replay against Sheffield United of the First Division.[2]
