Federal elections were held inGermany on 16 June 1898.^[1] Despite theSocial Democratic Party (SPD) receiving the most votes, theCentre Party remained the largest party in theReichstag after winning 102 of the 397 seats, whilst the SPD won just 56.^[2] Voter turnout was 68%.^[3]
