The1893–94 FA Cup was the 23rd edition of the world's oldestfootball knockout competition,The Football Association Challenge Cup, orFA Cup. The cup was won byNotts County of theFootball League Second Division, who defeatedBolton Wanderers 4–1 in the final to win the cup for the first and, to date, only time.^[1]

Matches were scheduled to be played at the stadium of the team named first on the date specified for each round, which was always a Saturday. Some matches, however, might be rescheduled for other days if there were clashes with games for other competitions or the weather was inclement. If scores were level after 90 minutes had been played, a replay would take place at the stadium of the second-named team later the same week. If the replayed match was drawn further replays would be held until a winner was determined. If scores were level after 90 minutes had been played in a replay, a 30-minute period ofextra time would be played.

Qualifying rounds

The 16 clubs from theFootball League First Division were exempted from the qualifying rounds, as wereLiverpool,Small Heath,Notts County,Middlesbrough Ironopolis andNewcastle United from theSecond Division. The Second Division featured 15 clubs this season followingBootle's resignation from the Football League after the Annual General Meeting. Most of the rest of the League clubs entered the FA Cup at the first qualifying round stage, althoughCrewe Alexandra andNorthwich Victoria joined in the second qualifying round.

Grimsby Town andWoolwich Arsenal were ultimately the only League clubs to progress to the competition proper, with non-League sidesMiddlesbrough,South Shore,Stockport County,Heanor Town,Leicester Fosse,Burton Wanderers,Luton Town andReading being the other qualifiers. Stockport County and Leicester Fosse were appearing at this stage for the first time whileAccrington received a bye to the first round despite the club also having resigned from the Football League during the 1893 close-season.
