The1888 Louisiana gubernatorial election was the second election to take place under theLouisiana Constitution of 1879. As a result of this electionFrancis T. Nicholls was re-electedGovernor of Louisiana. The election saw widespread intimidation ofAfrican Americans which guaranteed the election of theDemocratic nominee.
