TheRichmond Colts football teams from 1881 to 1889 represented Richmond College (later renamed theUniversity of Richmond) inAmerican football. These were the earliest years ofcollege football at the school. Highlights included the following:

  • On December 3, 1881, Richmond played its first intercollegiate football game, defeatingRandolph–Macon, 3–0.
  • On November 12, 1885, Richmond lost its first intercollegiate football game, losing toRandolph–Macon.
