The1878 Nevada gubernatorial election was held on 5 November 1878 in order to elect theGovernor of Nevada. The incumbentDemocraticGovernor of NevadaLewis R. Bradley lost re-election toRepublican nomineeJohn Henry Kinkead.[1][2]
On election day, 5 November 1878,Republican nomineeJohn Henry Kinkead won the election by a margin of 495 votes against his opponent incumbentDemocraticGovernor of NevadaLewis R. Bradley, thereby gaining Republican control over the office of Governor from the Democrats. Kinkead was sworn in as the 3rdGovernor of Nevada on 3 January 1879.[3]
