Pennsylvania voted for theRepublican nominee,Rutherford B. Hayes, over theDemocratic nominee,Samuel J. Tilden. Hayes won Pennsylvania by a narrow margin of 2.37%. Jefferson County has voted Democratic only once since, in1964.
