The1864 United States presidential election in Connecticut took place on November 8, 1864, as part of the1864 United States presidential election. Voters chose six representatives, or electors to theElectoral College, who voted forpresident andvice president.
Connecticut voted for theNational Union candidate,Abraham Lincoln and his running mateAndrew Johnson. They defeated theDemocratic candidate,George B. McClellan and his running mateGeorge H. Pendleton. Lincoln won the state by a narrow margin of 2.76%.
Although he lost the state, Connecticut would prove to be McClellan's fifth strongest state afterKentucky,New Jersey,Delaware andNew York.[1]
