Iowa was won by theRepublican nomineesIllinoisRepresentativeAbraham Lincoln and his running mateSenatorHannibal Hamlin ofMaine. They defeated theDemocratic nomineesSenatorStephen A. Douglas of Illinois and his running mate41st Governor of GeorgiaHerschel V. Johnson. Lincoln won the state by a margin of 11.39%.
