On election day, 10 October 1826,National Republican candidateAllen Trimble won the election by a margin of 66,710 votes against his foremost opponentDemocratic-Republican candidateAlexander Campbell, thereby gaining National Republican control over the office of Governor. Trimble was sworn in as the 10thGovernor of Ohio on 19 December 1826.[2]
