The1826 Maryland gubernatorial election was held on 2 January 1826 in order to elect theGovernor of Maryland.Democratic-Republican nominee andincumbent member of theU.S. House of Representatives fromMaryland's 2nd districtJoseph Kent was elected by theMaryland General Assembly against candidates William Tyler and Thomas H. Carroll.[1]
On election day, 2 January 1826,Democratic-Republican nomineeJoseph Kent was elected by theMaryland General Assembly, thereby retaining Democratic-Republican control over the office of governor. Kent was sworn in as the 19thGovernor of Maryland on 9 January 1826.[2]
