The1822 Maryland gubernatorial election was held on 9 December 1822 in order to elect theGovernor of Maryland.Democratic-Republican nominee and former member of theMaryland House of DelegatesSamuel Stevens Jr. was elected by theMaryland General Assembly againstFederalist nominee James B. Robins.[1]
On election day, 9 December 1822,Democratic-Republican nomineeSamuel Stevens Jr. was elected by theMaryland General Assembly, thereby retaining Democratic-Republican control over the office of governor. Stevens was sworn in as the 18thGovernor of Maryland on 16 December 1822.[2]
