The1816 Ohio gubernatorial election was held on 8 October 1816 in order to elect theGovernor of Ohio. IncumbentDemocratic-RepublicanGovernor of OhioThomas Worthington defeated fellowDemocratic-Republican membersJames Dunlap andEthan Allen Brown.[1]

General election

On election day, 8 October 1816,Democratic-Republican nomineeThomas Worthington won re-election by a margin of 16,636 votes against his opponents and fellowDemocratic-Republican membersJames Dunlap andEthan Allen Brown, thereby retaining Democratic-Republican control over the office of Governor. Worthington was sworn in for his second term on 9 December 1816.[2]
