The exact number of votes cast in this election is unknown.[1]
On election day, 7 December 1804,Democratic-Republican candidatePaul Hamilton was elected by theSouth Carolina General Assembly, thereby retaining Democratic-Republican control over the office of Governor. Hamilton was sworn in as the 42ndGovernor of South Carolina on 3 January 1805.[2]
