• 28 February –United IrishmanRoddy McCorley is executed inToomebridge for his part in theIrish Rebellion of 1798.
• April –United Irish Uprising of Irish soldiers stationed atSt. John's, Newfoundland, with theBritish Army is dispersed.
• 2 July & 1 August –Acts of Union 1800: the linked Union with Ireland Act 1800, anAct of theParliament of Great Britain, and Act of Union (Ireland) 1800, an Act of theParliament of Ireland, are passed by the respective legislatures, to unite theKingdom of Ireland andKingdom of Great Britain into theUnited Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, with effect from 1 January1801.^[1][2] The latter Act, drafted atDerrymore House,^[3] achieves its majority of 43 in theIrish House of Commons (which will be abolished under the measures) partly through thebribing of former opponents by the award ofpeerages andhonours.^[4]Catholic emancipation has been promised as part of the legislation byWilliam Pitt (the British Prime Minister),Lord Cornwallis (Lord Lieutenant of Ireland) andLord Castlereagh (Chief Secretary of Ireland) but they are forced to drop it by the King leading to their resignations.^[5]

• 12 August – start of construction of theMilitary Road across theWicklow Mountains.^[6]
