The1798 Vermont gubernatorial election forGovernor of Vermont took place throughout September, and resulted in the re-election ofIsaac Tichenor to a one-year term.[1]
TheVermont General Assembly met inVergennes on October 11.[1] TheVermont House of Representatives appointed a committee to examine the votes of thefreemen of Vermont for governor,lieutenant governor,treasurer, and members of the governor's council.[1]
In the popular election,Isaac Tichenor was chosen for a second one-year term.[1] In the election for lieutenant governor, the voters selectedPaul Brigham for a third one-year term.[1] The freemen also re-electedSamuel Mattocks as treasurer, his twelfth one-year term.[1] Vote totals were reported in local newspapers as follows.[2]
