The1780 Vermont Republic gubernatorial election took place on September 5, 1780.[1] It resulted in the re-election ofThomas Chittenden to a one-year term.[2]
TheVermont General Assembly met inBennington on October 12.[2] TheVermont House of Representatives appointed a committee to examine the votes of thefreemen of Vermont forgovernor,lieutenant governor,treasurer, and members of the governor's council.[2]Thomas Chittenden was re-elected governor.[2]Benjamin Carpenter was re-elected lieutenant governor, andIra Allen was re-elected as treasurer.[2] The names of candidates and balloting totals were not recorded.[2]
