SIMBADdata

14 Eridani is astar in theequatorialEridanusconstellation. It has anapparent visual magnitude of 6.143[2] and is moving closer to the Sun with aradial velocity of around −5 km/s.[4] The measured annualparallax shift is29.26 mas,[1] which provides an estimated distance of about 121 light years.Proper motion studies indicate that this is anastrometric binary.[9][10]

The visible component has astellar classification ofF5 V Fe−0.7 CH−0.5,[3] which indicates it has thespectrum of anF-type main-sequence star with mild underabundances of iron andmethylidyne. It is 1.4[6] billion years old with 1.3[6] times themass of the Sun and 1.5[1] times theSun's radius. The star is radiating 3.87[1] times theluminosity of the Sun from itsphotosphere at aneffective temperature of 6,719 K.[6] The system has been detected as a source ofX-ray emission.[11]
