  • 29 June – theNorman bishopRobert of Jumièges is enthroned asArchbishop of Canterbury, having been appointed to the vacant seat by the king.^[2] He refuses to consecrateSpearhafoc as his successor as theBishop of London, andWilliam the Norman is appointed instead. Spearhafoc vanishes with the gold and jewels he had been given to make the royal crown and is never seen again.^[3]
