(R)-3-Nitrobiphenyline is a drug. As an α₂-adrenergicagonist, it activatesα₂ adrenergic receptors, which respond to thehormones adrenaline (also known as epinephrine) andnoradrenaline (norepinephrine). It is selective for theα_2C subtype, as well as being a weakantagonist at theα_2A andα_2B subtypes. It has been used in scientific research to characterize the binding and functional properties of theα_2C subtype.^[1]^[2]
