Șieu-Măgheruș (Hungarian:Sajómagyarós) is a commune inBistrița-Năsăud County,Transylvania,Romania. It is composed of seven villages: Arcalia (Árokalja), Chintelnic (Kentelke), Crainimăt (Királynémeti), Podirei (Pogyerej), Sărățel (Szeretfalva), Șieu-Măgheruș, and Valea Măgherușului (Sajómagyarósi völgy).
The commune lies on theTransylvanian Plateau, on the banks of the riverȘieu. It is located in the central-south part of the county, at a distance of 22 km (14 mi) from the town ofBeclean and 16 km (9.9 mi) from the county seat,Bistrița.
Șieu-Măgheruș is crossed by twonational roads:DN17 [ro] (part ofEuropean route E58), which joinsDej inCluj County toSuceava, andDN15A [ro] (part ofEuropean route E578), which joinsReghin inMureș County to Bistrița; the two roads meet in the village of Sărățel.
There is also a train station in Sărățel, which serves theCFRLine 406, that runs fromBistrița Bârgăului toBistrița North [ro] to here, and on to the town ofLuduș, in Mureș County (the last segment is operated byRegio Călători).
