Ōiso Station (大磯駅,Ōiso-eki) is a passengerrailway station located in the town ofŌiso,Kanagawa Prefecture,Japan, operated by theEast Japan Railway Company (JR East).

Ōiso Station is served by theTōkaidō Main Line, with some through services via theShōnan-Shinjuku Line. The station is 67.8 km (42.1 mi) fromTokyo Station.

The station has a singleisland platform serving two tracks, connected to the station building by a footbridge. The station has aMidori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office.

History

Ōiso Station opened on July 11, 1887 on the Tokaido Main Line of theJapanese Government Railways (JGR). With the dissolution andprivatization of theJapanese National Railways (successor of JGR) on April 1, 1987, the station came under the control of JR East. Automatedturnstiles using theSuicaIC Card system came into operation from November 18, 2001.[citation needed]
