Óscar Esteban Granados Maroto[1] (Spanish pronunciation:[ˈoskaɾesˈteβaŋɡɾaˈnaðos]; born 25 October 1985) is a Costa Rican formerfootballer who plays as a defensivemidfielder.
Granados started his career at local sideCartaginés where he would stay for 7 years. In June 2011, he joined newly promotedOrión,[2] but left them 6 months later forHerediano.[3]
Granados made his debut forCosta Rica in a January2009 UNCAF Nations Cup match againstPanama and has, as of May 2014, earned a total of 12 caps, scoring no goals. He represented his country in2014 FIFA World Cup qualification matches and was a member of Costa Rican squad for2014 FIFA World Cup[1] where he was yellow-carded while on the sub's bench in the game againstGreece.[4] He played at the2009 UNCAF Nations Cup[5] as well as at the2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup.[6]
Hailing fromQuircot de Cartago, he is a son of Elí Granados and Martiza Maroto and is married to Fiorella Alvarado. His elder brother Michael played professional football with second division sideMunicipal Osa.[7]
