$25 Million Dollar Hoax is an unscriptedtelevision series that was originally shown onNBC from November 8 to November 22, 2004.

The series is noted to be similar in style toFOX'sMy Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance, which aired in 2004.[2] It is based on aUnited Kingdom show titledThe Million Pound Hoax,[2] broadcast onSky One earlier thatyear.[3]

Synopsis

In the series, daughter Chrissy Sanford plays ahoax on her family by convincing them she had won a$25,000,000lottery prize through theinternet, and that it had changed her from a sweet girl into a spend-a-holic.[1][4]

$25 Million Dollar Hoax contained guest appearances byEd McMahon,George Gray, andN*SYNC'sLance Bass.

Chrissy successfully pulled off the hoax, which won her and herfamily over $400,000 in cash and prizes.[4]
