The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard is the second spin-off game inThe Elder Scrolls franchise, set on the island ofStros M'Kai in theRedguard homeland ofHammerfell. In the last days of theSecond Era, in the wake ofPrince A'tor's defeat and theImperial occupation of Hammerfell, the mercenaryCyrus returns to his homeland in search of his missing sisterIszara who has disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

Unlike the games of the mainElder Scrolls series,Redguard is a third-person action-adventure with a predefinedhero, a singular story focus, and gameplay involvingplatform and puzzle elements. Taking place on a single island and with a small number of characters, there was an emphasis on detail, such as in the 3D graphics and fully-voiced dialogue.

While the game was originally to be released on October 1, 1998,[5]Redguard was silently delayed before going gold on November 4.[3] It was finally released to the North American market between November 14-16, 1998[3][2] and to the European market in March 1999. Both a software-only and 3dfx-accelerated version of the game can be installed from the disc, the latter for those with applicableVoodoo graphics cards and enabling various visual improvements (seeGlide Differences).

Today, the standard version ofRedguard is available digitally fromSteam and theMicrosoft Store (also being included with some Game Pass subscriptions), while the 3dfx version (using aGlide wrapper) is available fromGOG.com. Downloaded versions of the game come packaged with theDOSBox emulator pre-configured.
