William Engvick (July 1, 1914 – September 4, 2012) was an Americanlyricist,[1] many of whose compositions appear infilms.[2]

Engvick graduated from theUniversity of California, Berkeley in 1937. He is best known for his collaborations with composerAlec Wilder; they produced songs for theBroadway musicalOnce Over Lightly (1942),[3] and for the musical television specialsMiss Chicken Little (1953),Pinocchio (1957)[4] andHansel and Gretel (1958), Engvick was also responsible for a number ofEnglish-language lyrics to songs originally composed inFrench. Among his lyrics in this category were "The Song from Moulin Rouge" and "I'll Remember Today."
