So normally we don't put citations in the introduction of an article (the stuff before the table of contents), with the exception of quotes (WP:CITELEAD). In the case of "Bodies, unmarked graves, and potential burial sites have been identified near residential school sites across Canada since the 1970s, mainly using ground-penetrating radar." - this content is covered and sourced under the individual schools farther down the article. The claim that no bodies have been found is incorrect, as numerous were found before the hysteria that followed the Kamloops discovery last year; even still, the article repeatedly states that the recent discoveries are suspected or presumed graves. ah i see. clearly im a wiki rookie. But it appears there are citation in that article in the introduction that aren't quotes? (ie the 2nd sentence).

In regards to the unsourced content in the intro...that seems confusing to cite it farther into the article. I would assume the average wiki reader only reads the intro to an article. Wouldn't that be the most appropriate place to put a reference?Ccvegso (talk)06:08, 28 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I can't speak to the other reference (or two I think) in the lead, but they're probably unnecessary as well. The problem with citing the lead is that it is meant to summarize the article, and it would quickly become overwhelming/unreadable to have dozens of citations in those couple paragraphs.

Hello, in response to you statement atTalk:Interstate 81 in Tennessee/GA1, I do have access to the Wikipedia Library and Newspapers.com, but not ProQuest. If you'd like to do some relevant research, I would greatly appreciate that; however, I haven't found anything that seems to indicate that an alternate alignment of I-81 in Tennessee was anything more than talk. I doubt you will read this at all, but in my heart, you inspired me a lot. Possibly for a lot of people, I don't even know. The number highway articles you got up to FA, GA, and DYK are outstanding.
