True or false: this word comes from theLatin prefix for 1000.66.245.2.190 17:26, 6 Aug 2004 (UTC)
False. The band made up the name. It comes from the word 'melancholy' (read the first paragraph of the text...)Mattingly23 17:50, 6 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- What is interesting is that the nameMillencolin resembles the French language expressionMille collines (Thousand hills) more than the wordMelancholy.Rwanda is nicknamedPays de mille collines (Land of a thousand hills) and there'sHôtel des Mille Collines andRadio Télévision Libre des Mille Collines in Rwanda as well. Maybe in addition to the skateboard trick, the band took its name from the Rwanda's nickname, as theRwandan Civil War was ongoing and in current news when the band was formed in 1992.JJohannes (talk)19:25, 29 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
The text says that the band originally sang in Swedish. Could this be clarified by adding that the band now sings in ... English? I'm assumming English, but since I don't know for sure, I'm not going to make this change myself. --Spiff66618:37, 26 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
False. They began with english songs.
They did in fact originally sing in Swedish, I am unsure of when and why they changed to singing in English but they're bio on the millencolin website does confirm they originally sang in swedish.—Precedingunsigned comment added by86.140.250.159 (talk •contribs)
- From the web site:Erik, Mathias and Nikola started the band in October -92 in Örebro Sweden, back then we were playing in other punkbands and singing in Swedish. - They sang in Swedish with other bands, not with Millencolin. -Mattingly2313:41, 6 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
In the article it says the band was founded in 1992, but years active states 1988-present. Which is true? (Personally I cannot believe that they formed in 1988 only to wait for 5 years to have their first release, but that's just me and I simply don't know.)--82.83.212.20809:04, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Since their website gives 1992 as the relevant date, I guess that is the right thing.--Asdirk09:05, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
It needs one, it was quite possibly deleted too, why?scatman839 (talk)23:34, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
- I just added the single list. Feel free to add if something is missing.Narking (talk)17:14, 30 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
There's an album missing from the discography section.http://www.amazon.com/Same-Old-Tunes-Millencolin/dp/B00000AGA6
- No there isn't. Read the very first entry:Tiny Tunes (later re-released asSame Old Tunes)... --IllaZilla (talk)14:14, 10 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm pretty sure the band have never had any "mainstream success". This section should be renamed. If they were successful in a particular country, that could be mentioned in this section.Jonathanmjefferies (talk)12:31, 14 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
