At launch it had a mass of 2,144 kg (4,727 lb), and an expected operational lifespan of eight years.[2]

Launch

[edit]

TDF 2 was launched byArianespace using anAriane 44L H10launch vehicle flying fromELA-2 atCentre Spatial Guyanais,Kourou,French Guiana. The launch took place at 22:25:00UTC on 24 July 1990.[3] It was a Spacebus 300satellite bus.[2]

Mission

[edit]

TDF 2 was placed into ageostationary orbit at alongitude of 19.2° West. In August 1997, at 36° East, the bird joined theEutelsat fleet. TDF 2 is expected to remain in service at least until early 1999.[1][4]
