Syntrophus aciditrophicus is agram-negative androd-shaped bacterium. It is non-motile, non-spore-forming and grows under strictly anaerobic conditions, thus anobligate anaerobe. It degrades fatty acids andbenzoate insyntrophic association with hydrogen-using microorganisms.[1] Its genome was published in 2007.[2]
