Stephanie Zacharek is an American film critic atTime, based in New York City. From 2013 to 2015, she was the principal film critic forThe Village Voice. She was a 2015Pulitzer Prize finalist in criticism.[1]In February 2018, invited to serve as a judge for the main competition unit of the 68th Berlin International Film Festival.

Early life
editStephanie Zacharek received aBachelor of Science degree from theS.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications atSyracuse University, in New York.[2]
Career
editIn the 1990s, Zacharek worked forThe Boston Phoenix andInc.[citation needed] From 1999 to 2010, she was a film critic and senior writer atSalon.com, where her husband, Charles Taylor, was also a film critic until 2005.[3] She became chief film critic ofMovieline in 2010,[4] and left in mid-2012. In April 2013, theVoice Media Group hired her as chief film critic ofThe Village Voice.[5] In 2015 she left theVillage Voice and became the film critic forTime magazine.[6] In February 2018, she was selected to be on the jury for the main competition section of the68th Berlin International Film Festival.[7]
Personal life
editZacharek was married to film critic Charles Taylor, but they are now divorced.[3][8] Zacharek tried to have children when she was younger, but never got pregnant. However, today she has "zero regrets" about not having children.[8] As of 1999, she lives in New York.[9]
Preferences
editWhen she participated in the2012Sight & Sound critics' poll, Zacharek listed her ten favorite films as follows:Breathless,Carlito's Way,The Godfather,The Godfather: Part II,The Lady Eve,Once Upon a Time in the West,The Rules of the Game,Sunrise,Touch of Evil, andThe World of Apu.[10] She has also citedHoliday as a personal favorite.[11]
