Soldat (soldier) is the lowest rank in theRomanian Land Forces, equivalent to the rank ofPrivate. It is the equivalent ofjandarm (English:gendarme) in theRomanian Gendarmerie.
In day-to-day usage, the termsoldat denotes every man or woman enrolled in theRomanian Armed Forces, irrespective of their actual rank or branch in which they activate.
