Shine (an abbreviation ofStill Here Ignoring Negative Energy) is the fifthstudio album by American rapperWale. It was released on April 28, 2017, by his label, Every Blue Moon, distributed byMaybach Music Group andAtlantic Records.[1] The production on the album was handled by multiple producers includingCool & Dre,Kane Beatz,Diplo,Lee Major,Nez & Rio andChristian Rich among others. The album also features guest appearances byDua Lipa,Chris Brown,Travis Scott,Lil Wayne,Wizkid,J Balvin andG-Eazy among others.

Shine was supported by four singles: "My PYT", "Running Back", "Fashion Week" and "Fish N Grits".[2] The album received generally mixed reviews from music critics and achieved small commercial success. It debuted at number 16 on the USBillboard 200 chart, earning 28,000album equivalent units in its first week.[3]

This album mark as Wale's third and final release under the Atlantic Records label.[4]

Singles

The first single from the album, "My PYT", was released on May 20, 2016.[5] Themusic video for the track premiered on July 25, 2016.[6] The song has peaked at number 54 on the USBillboard Hot 100 chart.[7]

"Running Back" featuring American rapperLil Wayne, was released as the second single on January 20, 2017.[8] The song's music video premiered on February 6, 2017.[9] It has peaked at number 100 on theBillboard Hot 100.[7]

The third single from the album, "Fashion Week" featuring American rapperG-Eazy, was released on February 24, 2017.[10] The music video for the track premiered on April 10, 2017.[11]

The album's fourth single, "Fish N Grits", was released on April 6, 2017, and features American rapperTravis Scott.[12]

Shine was met with generally mixed reviews from music critics. AtMetacritic, which assigns anormalized rating out of 100 to reviews from professional publications, the album received anaverage score of 65, based on five reviews.[13]
