Råå Idrottsförening, commonly known asRåå IF, is afootball club located inRåå atÖresund,Scania, south ofHelsingborg.[1] The club became theSwedish Cup champions in 1948,[2] and the vice champions of theAllsvenskan, the highest league level in Swedish football in the1950–51 season.

Background
editRåå IF is a Swedish sports club that was established on 25 March 1921 by a group of high school students in a basement in the city district ofHelsingborg, Tågaborg.[citation needed][5] The club was first calledEnighet (lit. 'Unity'), but in 1925 it was renamed Råå Idrottsförening. Early matches were played at Valhallagatan but in 1928 they moved to Hedens idrottsplats. Råå IP was inaugurated on 29 May and Råå IF played their first match there againstStattena IF who won 3–1.[6]
Since their foundation Råå IF has participated both in the upper and lower divisions of theSwedish football league system. Råå IF won theSwedish Cup in 1948 defeatingBK Kenty by 6–0,[2] and in 1950 under coachAlbin Dahl the club advanced into theAllsvenskan (the Swedish top tier). Intheir first season in the Allsvenskan, Råå IF finished as runners-up.[6] During this time, the club also had the Hungarian coachKálmán Konrád ofBayern Munich,FC Zürich andSlavia Prague fame, who had escaped theWorld War II and ended up inScania, first atMalmö FF, then at Råå) at their disposal.[7]
During their two-year period in the Allsvenskan (1950–1952), Råå IF played at theOlympia in Helsingborg, attracting an average of 9,273 spectators.[8] The record was 23,604 againstMalmö FF[9]
Fortunes have fluctuated dramatically over the subsequent years which reached rock bottom in 1996 when Råå IF were playing in Division 7. The club currently plays in Division 4 Skåne Nordvästra which is the sixth tier of Swedish football.[10] They play their home matches at the Råå IP in Råå.[11]
In 2012, Swedish internationalHenrik Larsson played one match for Råå IF inDivision 3 Södra Götaland.[12][13]
