Nicotiana tomentosiformis is aperennialherbaceous plant. It is a wild species oftobacco native to theYungas Valley region in the eastern piedmont of theAndes Mountains, primarily inBolivia.

Recent genetic evidence suggests it is one of the parent species of the common domesticatedtobacco (Nicotiana tabacum), which was hybridized along with the speciesNicotiana sylvestris, and possiblyNicotiana otophora[1][2]
