Club career
editMevlja began his career withGorica, where he eventually spent four years with the first-team. In the summer of 2013 Mevlja joinedLausanne-Sport on a free transfer, his first club abroad, and competed in theSwiss Super League after signing a two-year contract.[1]
On 31 August 2017, Mevlja signed a four-year contract withZenit St. Petersburg.[2] On 21 February 2019, he returned toRostov on loan.[3]
On 2 September 2019, he signed a two-year contract withPFC Sochi.[4]
On 19 July 2021, he joined Turkish clubAlanyaspor on a three-year contract.[5]
On 8 September 2022, Mevlja returned to Russia and signed withSpartak Moscow for one season, with an option to extend for one more.[6] On 18 January 2023, his contract with Spartak was terminated by mutual consent.[7]
International career
editDuring his spell withDinamo București, he received his first call-up for theSlovenia national team and made his debut on 5 June 2016 in afriendly game againstTurkey.[8]
Personal life
editHe has a twin brother namedNejc, who also played football professionally as acentre-back.[9]
