Metachanda is the sole genus in tribeMetachandini ofmoth subfamilyOecophorinae.[1][2] Metachandini was originally described as familyMetachandidae byEdward Meyrick in 1911,[1] and at the time also contained the genusChanystis,[3] which is currently unplaced to tribe withinOecophorinae.[4] It has also previously been described as tribe Metachandini of subfamilyGelechiinae.[5]
Itstype species isMetachanda thaleropis.[6]
