
Mcgillite is a rare,monoclinic, pseudohexagonalmineral of the Pyrosmalite group, with the formulaMn2+

2. It was first approved in 1979, and is named forMcGill University.
Mcgillite is found in theSullivan Mine, Kimberley, Kootenay district, British Columbia, Canada; theKyurazawa mine,Tochigi Prefecture, Japan; and at one location inRomania. At the Sullivan mine, it forms as fracture fillings in amanganese-rich portion ofquartzite andargillite within a metamorphosed lead-zinc deposit. It is pink in color.
