Career
editPrior to his current position, he was alaundry room attendant at summer camp; an office manager at agraphic design company; a senior editor atTower Records'Pulse! (andClassical Pulse!) magazine from 1989-1996, and as contributing editor toPulse! from 1997-2002; and the editorial director formusic at citysearch.com.[1]
AtViz Media he was the managing editor ofShonen Jump.[2] and was then promoted to editorial director after helping launch theNaruto Collector magazine. Later he became vice president and editor-in-chief of bothShonen Jump and the sister magazineShojo Beat.[2][3] He left the company in February 2009.[4]
Writing and editing
editIn 1991, he wrote for Pulse! upon the popularity ofGregorian chants with collegedope-smokers.[5] Pulse! magazine published a monthly cartoon and his editorial policy was to ask artists to submit threestrip cartoons to choose from.[6] He now writes for the journalsNature and his web magazineDisquiet on the subject of ambient sound and experimental music.[7] In 2014 Bloomsbury published his book on the albumSelected Ambient Works Volume II by Aphex Twin as part of its33 1/3 series.
