Manoj N. Joshi (born 14 December 1965) is an Indian actor known for working in film, stage and television.[2] He has acted in over 70 films since 1998, many of his roles being comic roles. Joshi is the recipient of several awards including aNational Film Award. In 2018, Joshi was awarded with thePadma Shri.[3] He is the vice-president of theBombay Art Society.[4]

After graduating fromSir J. J. School of Arts, he began his career inMarathi theatre, also putting up performances inGujarati andHindi theatre.
He acted in TV series includingChanakya,[5]Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka,[5]Rau (Marathi),Sangdil,Kabhi Souten Kabhi Saheli,Mura Raska Mai La (Marathi). He debuted inSarfarosh (SI Bajju) alongside his brother who played Bala Thakur in the film. His other works include the filmHungama followed byHulchul,Dhoom,Bhagam Bhag,[6]Chup Chup Ke,Bhool Bhulaiyaa andBillu.[7] He played the role of Chanakya inChakravartin Ashoka Samrat. Joshi is popularly known for playingKachra Seth inPhir Hera Pheri (2006).

Personal life
editHis father was Navneet Joshi, and his younger brotherRajesh Joshi was an actor too. Rajesh died in 1998.[15] Joshi hails from Adpodara village nearHimatnagar in northGujarat.
Joshi suffered a stroke while filming Devdas with Sanjay Leela Bhansali due to which he lost his vision and was bedridden for a year and a half.[16]
