Khoratpithecus is anextinctgenus ofponginprimates that lived during theLate Miocene (7–9 million years ago) inMyanmar andThailand.
Three species belong to this genus:
Stable isotopic analysis consisting of pairedδ13C andδ18O measurements shows thatK. ayeyarwadyensis inhabited the treetops of highly forested habitats and fed exclusively onC3 vegetation.[4]Dental microwear and dental topography both indicate thatKhoratpithecus wasfrugivorous, preferring soft fruits over seeds and hard fruits.[5]
