Kateryna Oleksandrivna Tabashnyk (Ukrainian:Катери́на Олекса́ндрівна Та́башник; born 15 June 1994) is aUkrainianhigh jumper who formerly competed in theheptathlon. She is a formerEuropean U20 champion,Ibero-American Championships winner,European Indoor Championshipsbronze medalist, and Top 8 at theEuropean Championships.

editIn July 2022,The New York Times reported that Tabashnyk said her family’s apartment inKharkiv, Ukraine, was struck by a Russian Army rocket that injured her 8-year-old nephew, who was hospitalized, and had one of his kidneys removed.[1]
On 18 August 2022shelling of Kharkiv by theRussian Armed Forces killed Kateryna's mother.[2]

editTabashnyk is a formerEuropean U20 champion,Ibero-American Championships winner,European Indoor Championshipsbronze medalist, and Top 8 at theEuropean Championships.[3]
2013-19
editTabashnyk competed in high jump without reaching the final at the2011 World Youth Championships, and the2013 European Indoor Championships.
In May 2012 at the Ukrainian Junior Championships inYalta, Tabashnyk came in 4th place.[3]
Tabashnyk then won thegold medal at the2013 European Junior Championships.[3]
In June 2017 she won a bronze medal at thePaavo Nurmi Games inTurku,Finland, inWomen's high jump.[4]
In August 2018 Tabashnyk won the high jump with a 1.90 metre jump at theEuropean Athletics Championships in Berlin, Germany.[3]
On 28 March 2019 inAntalya (Turkey) she tested positive for the diuretichydrochlorothiazide, a prohibited substance under theWADA 2019. On 13 January 2020 theAthletics Integrity Unit disqualified her for 19 months from 28 March 2019.[5]
2020-present
editIn February 2022 she won the Meeting International de Montreuil in Women's high jump.[4] In May 2022 with a high jump of 1.90 Tabashnyk won theIbero American Championships inLa Nucia, Spain.[3] In June 2022 she won the AtletiCAGenève - EAP in Women's high jump.[4] In August 2022 she won a bronze medal at the2022 Kamila Skolimowska Memorial.
In March 2023 Tabashnyk won a bronze medal at theEuropean Indoor Championships, in Women's high jump.[4]
Personal bests
editTabashnyk's personal best high jump is 1.99 metres, achieved indoors on 26 January 2019 inHustopeče,Czech Republic.[3]
Her highest world ranking in women's high jump has been fifth place.[3]
