Kate Micucci (/mɪˈki/mih-KOO-chee; born March 31, 1980)[2] is an American actress, comedian, and musician who is half of the musical comedy duoGarfunkel and Oates withRiki Lindhome. Early life and education

Micucci was born inJersey City, New Jersey to a family of Italian descent.[3][4][5] She grew up inNazareth, Pennsylvania in theLehigh Valley region of easternPennsylvania and was raised as aCatholic. She learned to playclassical piano from her mother.[6]

Micucci graduated fromNazareth Area High School in 1998.[7] She received anA.A. in fine arts fromKeystone College inLa Plume, Pennsylvania and aB.A. in studio art fromLoyola Marymount University inLos Angeles in 2003.[8]

Micucci's television credits include numerous television commercials and acting roles, including Toni the barista onNBC'sFour Kings, guest roles onMalcolm in the Middle,'Til Death,How I Met Your Mother,Cory in the House,The Big Bang Theory, andCampus Ladies, and recurring roles onScrubs andRaising Hope. Her film credits includeThe Last Hurrah,Bart Got a Room, andWhen in Rome. She played Lily the IT girl onElevator, produced byHBO's Runawaybox.[9] In early 2009, she released a five-trackEP entitledSongs.[10]

Micucci appeared in five episodes ofScrubs ("My Lawyer's in Love", "My Absence", "My Chief Concern", "Our Histories", and "My Finale") as Stephanie Gooch, aukulele player with whomTed Buckland begins a relationship. She performs her song "Mr. Moon" and an adapted version of "Fuck You" (retitled "Screw You" forABC), a song she typically performs as part of the musical duo Garfunkel and Oates. In 2009, she starred in the short filmImaginary Larry, co-written and co-directed byRiki Lindhome, her partner inGarfunkel and Oates. In August 2009, Micucci appeared in an advertising campaign forHillshire Farms and forH & R Block in January 2010.

In 2010, Micucci appeared in theKristen Bell filmWhen in Rome and in an episode in the sixth season of the TV showWeeds as a slightly sedated waitress. She appeared in some episodes of the HBO seriesBored to Death and appeared asShelley on seriesRaising Hope. Micucci was originally cast as Jimmy's cousin in the pilot that was filmed December 2009.[11][12] Her role was recast bySkyler Stone as Mike,[12] changing the character Micucci originated from Jimmy's cousin to Sabrina's cousin, Shelley.[13]

From 2009 to October 2011, she performed "Playin' with Micucci" on the third Monday of the month atThe Steve Allen Theater inHollywood, California.[14][15] In the act, she presented "songs and stories in [a] musical variety show."[16] Micucci said the title was the only dirty aspect of the show.[17] She frequently performed (as "Oates") with Lindhome (as "Garfunkel") in "An Evening withGarfunkel and Oates" at theUpright Citizens Brigade Theater in Los Angeles.[18] She performed withWilliam H. Macy on the ukulele to promote the DVD release of the filmBart Got a Room. The video has been circulated around the Internet on sites such asYouTube andThe Huffington Post.[19]

In February 2011, Micucci appeared briefly in aProgressive Insurance ad as a waitress.[20] She has voiced a character onPendleton Ward's animated seriesAdventure Time, and as the character of Julie Kane on theDisney XD animated seriesMotorcity. She voiced the recurring character Sadie Miller on the Cartoon Network animated seriesSteven Universe. In July 2012, Kate appeared in Written by a Kid's productionScary Smash, aGeek and Sundry creation that was executive produced by Kim Evey,Felicia Day, and Sheri Byrant.[21]

In January 2013, Micucci's casting was announced for a recurring role onThe Big Bang Theory as "a potential love interest for ...Raj."[22] Her character, the painfully shy Lucy, first appeared on February 14, 2013. Micucci appeared as a guest judge onKing of the Nerds.

Since October 2015, Micucci has provided the voice ofVelma Dinkley in variousScooby-Doo franchise projects, beginning with the animated television seriesBe Cool, Scooby-Doo!

In 2016, she was the lead in a film for the first time inUnleashed and co-starred in a season one episode of theNetflix comedy-drama seriesEasy, reprising her role for the series' second and third seasons. Micucci voicedWebby Vanderquack in the 2017 reboot ofDuckTales.In 2017, Micucci voiced Doctor Fox inUnikittyand in 2018, she starred inSeven Stages to Achieve Eternal Bliss.

Her debut solo albumMy Hat, a collection ofchildren's music, was released in November 2023.[23][24]

Personal life

Micucci married musician and recording producerJake Sinclair in February 2018.[25] They live inLos Angeles andNew York.[26] She gave birth to their son in January 2020.[1]

In December 2023, Micucci underwent successful surgery forlung cancer.[27][28]
